Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN is responsible for supervising Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while promoting a safe and positive environment for patients and staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission and develop individualized care plans.
- Identify teaching needs and goals for each patient in collaboration with families and the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely documentation of all patient assessments, interventions, and responses in accordance with policy.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program and ensure quality patient outcomes through education.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
- Communicate changes in patient status effectively to support continuity of care.
- Supervise and provide training to ancillary nursing personnel while delegating tasks appropriately.
- Ensure a safe work environment by adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
- Contribute positively to the unit's functioning and foster a supportive work environment.
- Assume charge responsibility as needed and pursue professional growth through continuing education.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS certification required prior to first shift.
- Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience required.
- Experience in Stepdown, ICU, or LTAC settings preferred.
