Registered Nurse - Surgical Center

8-hour shifts; 0615-1445 Mon-Fri; no weekends, holidays, or call.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Surgical Center is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients, ensuring their physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs are met. The RN acts as an advocate for patients while utilizing professional nursing skills to implement care plans and coordinate with other healthcare staff.

Responsibilities

• Assess and respond to individual patient needs through observation and interaction.
• Utilize nursing skills and judgment to implement care and address identified problems.
• Communicate patient assessments to appropriate individuals for coordinated care.
• Demonstrate knowledge of diagnostic measures including labs, radiology, and EKG.
• Perform IV therapy and transcribe physician’s orders accurately and timely.
• Document patient clinical records accurately through computer systems.
• Provide education and instruction to patients and their families.
• Manage supplies responsibly and assist with housekeeping duties as needed.
• In PACU, assess and provide nursing care while monitoring vital signs and pain management.
• Assist with patient transfer processes and act as a float nurse when assigned.
• Participate in anesthesia procedures and maintain knowledge of emergency supplies.
• Engage in committee meetings to suggest improvements and seek guidance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
