Days, Evening, Nights, Rotating Shift Schedules, On Call, Call Back, Charge, Holidays, Weekends as needed.

Job Description

The Observation unit cares for adult patients needing additional observation to determine if the patient's condition is serious enough for admission to the hospital or if the patient can be treated and released home safely. This fast-paced environment typically turns over 20 to 27 patients per day, with an average length of stay of 27 hours. The unit has 24/7 provider coverage and cares for a diverse adult population including both emergency observation and admitted boarding patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients in a fast-paced observation unit.
• Monitor and assess patients to determine the need for admission or discharge.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active RN License in New York.
• Two years of Med/Surg experience required.
• Telemetry experience required.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• NIHSS certification preferred.
