Job Description

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for preparing patients for examinations, explaining procedures, and responding to patient questions. This role involves performing diagnostic procedures for patients as ordered by physicians.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care/technical duties and procedures accurately and in a timely manner.
• Greet each patient in a pleasant manner.
• Review requests and evaluate order for appropriate exam and diagnosis, checking for two identifiers: Name and Date of Birth.
• Explain procedures in terms that the patient understands.
• Prepare and position patients for examinations using proper techniques.
• Take correct views for examination and ensure the safe and efficient use of radiologic equipment.
• Document patient symptoms, history, imaging limitations, and other relevant information in PACS.
• Assist the Radiologist and/or Fluoro Tech during examinations.
• Maintain radiation safety practices, promoting radiation safety of patients and staff.
• Perform clerical duties efficiently, including monitoring the workflow process utilizing PACS.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a specialized training program in Radiological Technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• One year of experience preferred performing radiological procedures in a hospital, clinic, or physician's office.
• Registered with the ARRT in Radiology.
• Meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years.
