Job Description

The Cardiovascular Registered Nurse utilizes clinical judgment to diagnose and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions. As a critical member of the Cardiovascular Unit (CVU), the RN provides care for over 4,000 cardiology patients annually, with procedures including PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, and bi-ventricular pacemakers.

The CVU specializes in the care of patients with congestive heart failure and electrophysiology studies, managing 300 open-heart surgery patients who are discharged from this unit within 18-24 hours post-op. The NISUS research department conducts many national clinical trials involving CVU.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat patient responses to various health conditions.
• Participate in the care of cardiology patients and assist in their procedures.
• Monitor and manage patients post-open-heart surgery.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 1+ year of Stepdown experience - REQUIRED
• Proficiency in Cardiac care - REQUIRED
• Comfort with EKG - REQUIRED
• Must be willing to float to similar units - REQUIRED
• Current Michigan RN license verification is required
• ACLS and BLS certifications
