Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Plainfield, NJ
Schedule
7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, 8 hour shifts Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, plus two Wednesdays a month as needed. One Saturday a month required. No holiday or on-call requirements.
Job Description
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist provides immobilization devices, operates Nuclear Medicine equipment, and evaluates radio images using the PACS System. The technologist also ensures patient and self-radiation protection, prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals, and performs various radionuclide procedures while assisting the physician under prescribed safety conditions. Responsibilities include equipment calibration, radioactive tracer preparation, maintaining records in accordance with regulations, and ensuring contamination-free conditions. Daily clerical duties involve using patient scheduling systems and maintaining orderliness in the workspace.
Responsibilities
- Provide immobilization devices and operate Nuclear Medicine equipment.
- Evaluate radio images using the PACS workstation for diagnostic value and proper identification.
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals and perform radionuclide procedures, ensuring safety compliance.
- Prepare radioactive tracer compounds and calibrate equipment.
- Maintain records of radioactive material receipt, use, storage, and disposal per state and federal regulations.
- Perform daily clerical duties associated with patient studies, including data entry into relevant systems.
- Communicate effectively with patients and caregivers, addressing their specific needs.
- Adhere to organizational competencies and safety guidelines.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in a busy hospital setting as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; graduate of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
- Valid NJDEP license required.
- ARRT or NMTCB registry required.
- BLS by American Heart Association required.
