Job Description

The Registered Respiratory Therapist performs respiratory therapy in all settings within the Health Center. Responsibilities include aerosol therapy, airway clearance, blood gas analysis, endotracheal intubation, and ventilator management.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and evaluate the effectiveness of care.
• Provide basic respiratory care, including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and airway clearance.
• Perform complex respiratory care such as endotracheal intubation and ventilator management.
• Use critical thinking skills to resolve clinical issues and optimize patient care.
• Assess learning needs of patients and/or their families and provide relevant education.
• Respond to Code-Blues, Code-Pinks, Rapid Response Teams, and Trauma Teams.
• Document care provided in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Communicate openly with all members of the health care team, including SBAR handoffs.
• Actively participate in process improvement activities.
• Perform non-patient care duties related to respiratory care, such as equipment troubleshooting.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Must hold a valid Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License issued by the Ohio Respiratory Care Board.
• Clinical experience during respiratory care training is required.
• At least 2 years of Respiratory Therapy experience is preferred.
