Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed. The therapist evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans while ensuring patients understand their treatments, tests, and equipment. Education upon discharge is also a key responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory and oxygen devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography as per policy.
• Review chest x-rays to determine further evaluation needs.
• Assist with procedures relating to respiratory care, including bronchoscopy and chest tube placements.
• Commission adequate drainage of the chest and tracheostomy care as necessary.
• Perform arterial punctures and determine ventilation efficiency.
• Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Record treatment data and patient responses accurately.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active Respiratory Therapist license in Ohio and Kentucky.
• Experience in a clinical setting performing respiratory care functions.
