8 hour days, Monday to Friday. No weekends or holidays.

Job Description

The Radiation Therapist is responsible for the administration of radiation therapy using Varian Linear Accelerator (True Beam), ensuring compliance with patient safety and treatment protocols. The role includes documentation in Meditech and Aria.

Responsibilities

• Check diagnosis, prescription, chart, and patient identification.
• Explain planned treatment to patients and set communication procedures.
• Prepare room and equipment per prescription, including setting immobilization devices and treatment parameters.
• Observe radiation safety measures for patients and personnel.
• Maintain visual and audible communication with patients during treatment.
• Operate and perform CT simulation procedures and equipment effectively.
• Perform daily duties accurately and in a timely manner.
• Conduct patient timeout in accordance with department policy.
• Monitor treatment area for skin changes and address any side effects or emotional issues with patients.
• Assist with ordering supplies as necessary.
• Maintain complete records and comply with Quality Improvement standards.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Ensure patient markings are maintained.
• Perform scheduling and clerical duties to support departmental efficiency.
• Conduct safety checks on equipment and report any issues to the physician and supervisor.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an approved school of Radiation Therapy.
• Current registration as a Radiation Therapist (RTT) with the ARRT(T).
• Meets the American Heart Association's standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS), renewed every two years.
