Radiologic Technologist
Assignment Duration
This is an 18-week contract position.
Schedule
Shift: 1:00 PM - 11:30 PM, every other weekend. Potential flexibility with hours is available.
Job Description
Under the direction of a Radiologist, you will perform Radiologic procedures for the evaluation of pathological entities as ordered by a physician. Responsibilities also include utilizing independent judgment in determining appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices according to department protocols.
Responsibilities
- Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for the examination.
- Review clinical data and perform appropriate examinations, obtaining additional information as necessary.
- Prepare procedure rooms and replenish stock regularly.
- Analyze anatomical structures, set up equipment, and perform Radiologic procedures while utilizing patient immobilization as needed.
- Select and administer intravenous contrast media, monitoring patients for possible reactions.
- Demonstrate principles of radiation protection during all imaging procedures.
- Follow department protocols for infection control and ensure adequate supplies are on hand.
- Complete necessary documentation in worksheets, logs, and patient records.
- Assume teaching responsibilities for new hires and students as needed.
- Resolve image exceptions and ensure high-quality image delivery into PACS.
- Complete all study indexing within the Radiology Information System.
- Review and confirm clinical protocols with Radiologist prior to performing studies.
- Demonstrate consistent team member standards of excellence and professional behaviors.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
- Must be registered in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or registry eligible (registry must be obtained within 6 months of hire).
- Healthcare Provider certification required (BCLS).
- A minimum of 2 years of experience, including Level I or II Trauma experience in the operating room.
