Emergency Room Registered Nurse - 12-Hour Evening Shift

12-hour evening shifts from 10:45 PM to 11:15 AM and/or 2:45 PM to 3:15 AM.

Job Description

This position involves providing professional nursing care based on current nursing knowledge through the use of the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) standards. The candidate will utilize the nursing process to assess patient needs, develop care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate patient care outcomes for a diverse age population, from neonates to geriatrics.

Responsibilities

• Triage every patient entering the emergency care system, determining priorities based on physical and psycho-social needs.
• Conduct hourly rounding in the department and half-hour rounding in the waiting room.
• Document in-depth nursing histories, including chief complaints and health care statuses.
• Develop and constantly update care plans based on ongoing assessments.
• Manage patient care complications following established policies and ENA standards.
• Recognize changes in patient health status and direct appropriate care for safety.
• Document patient responses to interventions to ensure competent medical care.
• Provide health education to patients and families regarding treatment and discharge planning.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Pennsylvania RN licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications, all current and renewed every two years.
• Valid National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• EPIC Computer Charting experience is preferred.
