Job Description

The Emergency Room Nurse provides professional nursing care based on current nursing knowledge through the implementation of the nursing process. Responsibilities include patient assessment, developing care plans, implementing nursing interventions, and evaluating patient outcomes across the neonate through geriatric age population. This position includes scheduled on-call assignments as needed based on emergency department patient volumes.

Responsibilities

• Triage every patient entering the emergency care system, determining priorities of care based on physical and psycho-social needs.
• Develop and implement a plan of care based on ongoing assessments.
• Ensure that supplies and equipment are available and in working order.
• Recognize changes in patient health status and direct appropriate care for patient safety.
• Document patient responses to interventions and facilitate competent medical care.
• Provide health education to patients and families prior to treatment initiation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Pennsylvania RN licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, renewal every two years.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, renewal every two years.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, renewal every two years.
• Valid NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
