Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by following the nursing care plan and supervising Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees. The RN emphasizes the importance of patient and employee safety while promoting superior quality in all aspects of their work.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to create individualized care plans.
• Identify teaching needs and goals through collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide timely patient information for team conferences and ensure accurate documentation of assessments and interventions.
• Engage in patient rehabilitation programs and prioritize patient education based on identified health care needs.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
• Communicate changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care and safety.
• Supervise, train, and provide direction to nursing staff, utilizing effective problem-solving techniques and time management.
• Maintain personal and environmental safety according to hospital policies.
• Contribute positively to unit functioning by providing clear direction and support.
• Manage supplies efficiently and maintain communication with the nursing management team about service needs.
• Assume charge responsibilities as requested after orientation.
• Pursue continuing education and professional development opportunities.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to first shift
• ACLS certification required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY)
• Minimum two (2) years bedside clinical experience highly desired
