12H Nights, 1845-0715; rotating weekends and holidays. Block scheduling may be accommodated based on the needs of the unit.

Job Description

The PCU Stepdown unit consists of 11-12 beds, providing care for a variety of post-op vascular and cardiovascular patients. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, requiring proficient critical care skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for post-operative vascular, hemodynamically stable cardiac dysrhythmias, CVA, sepsis, renal patients, stable acute MI, unstable angina, and post-cardiac catheterization cases.
• Titrate critical drips including insulin, Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone, and low-dose Dopamine.
• Utilize advanced respiratory support equipment, including Bipap, Cpap, and mechanical ventilation.
• Assist with general patient care duties, with support from nursing assistants.
• Coordinate and communicate patient care needs within the interdisciplinary team.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have travel experience with a minimum of 1-2 years in critical care.
• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
• ICU skill set required, including experience with Bipap, Cpap, telemetry, critical drips, and post-cardiac catheter care.
• Arterial line experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of CRRT and IABP is a plus.
