Medical Surgical Orthopedic Nurse

Job Description

This is a 13-week contract position for a Medical Surgical Orthopedic Nurse. The role requires a skilled professional to provide care in an orthopedic setting, managing various patient needs and responsibilities.

Shift

Day shift, working 12-hour shifts from 07:00 to 19:00.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient care in accordance with established protocols.
• Administer medications and treatments, including blood product administration and IV therapies.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, managing complications such as renal failure and spinal cord injuries.
• Provide wound care and management for surgical drains.
• Facilitate pre/post-hemodialysis and neurosurgery patient management.
• Operational tasks including accessing ports, central line blood draws, and peripheral line management.
• Support patients with colostomy care and feeding tube management.
• Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including Physical Therapy and Respiratory Services.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with a background in Medical/Surgical and Orthopedic settings.
• Current certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), with ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) preferred.
• Experience with Epic documentation system is required.
• Travel nursing experience is required; first-time travelers are not accepted.
