Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Location

This position is based in a facility requiring RNs greater than 50 miles from their home address.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Shift: Nights from 19:00 to 07:00

Job Description

The Registered Nurse holds shift accountability for providing care during the antepartum, intrapatum, immediate postpartum, and neonatal phases of obstetrical care to Labor and Delivery patients. The RN utilizes the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policy and procedures. This role requires demonstrating critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in planning and providing safe delivery of care.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clinical competencies through continuing education.
• Delegate patient care priorities based on staff education and experience.
• Provide direction and supervision of assigned personnel delivering patient care.
• Float to Nursery and Postpartum as needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing.
• Current TN nursing license.
• ARC or AHA BLS and ACLS certification required.
• NRP certification preferred (must obtain within 6 months).
• Fetal Monitoring certification preferred (must obtain within 6 months).
• Proficient in EMR systems, specifically Cerner.
