Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while embracing the core values of superior quality, teamwork, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission and develop individualized care plans.
• Identify patient teaching needs and collaborate with patients/families and the interdisciplinary team for effective care.
• Provide timely patient status updates and documentation in accordance with policy.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
• Communicate changes in patient status to support continuity of care and patient safety.
• Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel, utilizing effective problem-solving and decision-making techniques.
• Ensure personal and environmental safety per hospital policies and procedures.
• Contribute positively to the unit's functioning and participate in team-building activities.
• Maintain communication with management regarding service needs and effectively manage resources.
• Assume charge responsibility after the orientation period as requested.
• Engage in professional development through continuing education.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
• ACLS Certification required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
• Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
• Epic experience required.
