Job Description

Under the direction of a Radiologist, the Interventional Radiologic Technologist specializes in performing invasive procedures to aid in the evaluation of pathological entities as prescribed by a physician.

Responsibilities

• Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for examinations.
• Obtain additional medical history information as necessary.
• Prepare prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions for administration.
• Review clinical data, analyze anatomical structure, set up equipment, and assist Radiologist in complex diagnostic procedures.
• Prepare and set up sterile equipment and monitors required for procedures.
• Assess patient condition before, during, and following procedures.
• Manually control equipment to obtain proper diagnostic images.
• May assist in training new personnel and students.
• Perform imaging procedures while demonstrating principles of radiation protection.
• Resolve image exceptions and ensure high-quality image delivery into PACS.
• Complete all study indexing in the Radiology Information System.
• Perform Quality Assurance procedures as appropriate.
• Utilize independent judgment in determining imaging techniques and safety practices.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience with neurological case experience in a comprehensive stroke facility.
• Certification in BLS and registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) with an advanced registry in one of the following:
  • Cardiac-Interventional Radiography (CI)
  • Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI)
  • Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography (CV)
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
• Must maintain required hours of continued medical education.
