Job Description
Under the direction of a Radiologist, the Radiologic Technologist performs radiologic procedures for the evaluation of pathological entities as ordered by a physician. This role involves utilizing independent judgment in determining appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices according to department protocols.
Responsibilities
- Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for examinations.
- Review clinical data on requisitions and perform appropriate examinations.
- Prepare procedure rooms and replenish stock such as linens and related supplies.
- Analyze anatomical structures and perform necessary radiologic procedures.
- May select and administer intravenous contrast media and monitor patients for reactions.
- Implement radiation protection principles during imaging procedures.
- Prepare and set up sterile equipment and supplies required for procedures.
- Maintain patient care standards to ensure safety, privacy, and comfort.
- Complete all necessary documentation including patient records and logs.
- May assist in educating new hires and students.
- Resolve image exceptions and ensure quality image delivery into PACS.
- Complete study indexing in the Radiology Information System.
- Review clinical protocols with Radiologists as necessary before performing studies.
- Demonstrate excellence in teamwork and communication.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
Minimum of 2 years of experience required, including Level I or II trauma experience in the operating room. Must be registered in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or registry eligible (registry must be obtained within 6 months of hire). BCLS certification required.
