Job Description

Under general supervision, the Computed Tomography Technologist specializes in performing computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients. This role may involve performing general diagnostic radiology examinations and related duties as required.

Responsibilities

• Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for examinations.
• Review clinical data and perform appropriate examinations.
• Prepare procedure rooms and replenish stocks of linen and supplies regularly.
• Analyze anatomical structures and set up equipment to perform the CT scan.
• Manually control equipment to obtain diagnostic information.
• Administer intravenous contrast media and monitor patients for potential reactions.
• Prepare and set up sterile equipment for procedures while ensuring adequate supplies are on hand.
• Assist Radiologists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies.
• Demonstrate principles of radiation protection and patient safety.
• Resolve image exceptions and ensure high quality image delivery into PACS.
• Complete study indexing in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
• Document necessary information in the medical record and RIS to support clinical and billing functions.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) with an advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
