Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by assuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN oversees Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees to ensure optimal patient care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans.
- Identify patient teaching needs related to diagnoses and collaborate with patients and the Interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely patient information for Initial and Re-evaluation Team Conferences.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the medical record.
- Participate in patient rehabilitation programs on assigned units while prioritizing education for patients and families.
- Initiate discharge planning from the day of admission and provide anticipatory patient teaching.
- Ensure continuity of care by communicating pertinent information regarding changes in patient status.
- Direct, train, and supervise ancillary nursing personnel to optimize team performance and patient care.
- Uphold personal and environmental safety standards according to hospital and nursing policies.
- Contribute positively to the unit's functioning through effective communication and team-building activities.
- Oversee supply and equipment needs in a cost-effective manner while promoting quality patient outcomes.
- Assume charge responsibilities as requested after orientation.
- Pursue professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS Certification required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
- Minimum two years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
