Med/Surg Registered Nurse - Full Time with On Call Shifts

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills to deliver high quality compassionate care to patients and their families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs, collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to develop a plan of care, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient’s episode. The RN develops specialized skills in the care of adults, adolescents, and geriatric populations with medical conditions and is accountable for patient and family education to support health and healing beyond hospitalization.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Create individualized, culturally relevant care plans based on patient needs.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members to set and monitor care goals.
• Educate patients and families on self-care and lifestyle changes for continued health post-discharge.
• Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and initiate improvements.
• Build trusting relationships by being present and responsive to patient and family needs.
• Administer medications and perform interventions with skill and accuracy.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current New York State RN Licensure required.
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or RQI only) required.
• One year of experience in a Med/Surg environment as a Registered Nurse required.

Schedule

This position requires full-time commitment with a day/night rotation of 36 hours weekly, including every other weekend, holidays, and 2 on-call shifts every four weeks.
