Job Description

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing all aspects of patient exam activities at a technical level that will produce high-quality images consistent with established policies and procedures. This includes operating and maintaining nuclear scanning imaging equipment and ensuring radiation safety for patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Specializes in performing diagnostic studies in nuclear medicine imaging.
• Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns.
• Operates and maintains all assigned nuclear scanning imaging equipment.
• Performs diagnostic studies, including measuring and preparing concentrations of radioactive isotopes.
• Identifies, prepares, and administers medications/substances as prescribed by licensed practitioners.
• Completes quality assurance processes and practices radiation safety.
• Maintains required documentation, logs, charts, and records in both paper and electronic formats.
• Ensures an adequate supply of consumables for quality testing.
• Performs maintenance and function checks on imaging equipment following established protocols.
• May assist other areas of radiology as assigned.
• Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Registered in Nuclear Medicine with the ARRT or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
• 2 years of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Michigan license verification is required for nurses.
