Invasive Radiologic Technologist
Job Description
This is a 13-week contract position. Under the direction of a Radiologist, the Invasive Radiologic Technologist specializes in the performance of procedures of an invasive nature to aid in the evaluation of pathological entities as prescribed by a physician.
Responsibilities
- Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for the examination.
- Obtain additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary.
- Prepare prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions for administration.
- Review clinical data, analyze anatomical structures, and set up equipment for procedures.
- Prepare and set up sterile equipment and physiological monitors required for the procedure.
- Ensure adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored; replenish supplies as appropriate.
- Assess patient condition before, during, and after procedures as part of the team.
- Manually control imaging equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information.
- Assist in training new personnel and/or students assigned to the division.
- Implement principles of radiation protection and techniques to reduce doses.
- Resolve image exceptions and ensure high-quality image delivery into PACS.
- Complete all study indexing in the Radiology Information System.
- Perform quality assurance procedures and document necessary details in the medical record.
- Utilize independent judgment in determining appropriate imaging techniques and safety practices.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. May require overtime and on-call coverage.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Minimum of 2 years of experience required.
- Candidates must have neurological case experience.
- BLS and ARRT certification required; preferred experience in Vascular Radiography.
- Must maintain required hours of continued medical education.
