Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by assuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while providing care in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Initiates ongoing systematic assessments of patients’ physical, emotional, social, educational, and functional needs.
- Interprets assessment data to develop and update nursing care plans with problem identification and goals.
- Teaches and counsels patients and families on care and health management, making appropriate referrals.
- Participates in interdisciplinary team activities to assess, plan, and evaluate rehabilitation goals.
- Ensures medication administration is accurate and adheres to hospital policies, evaluating effectiveness as needed.
- Maintains patient safety and provides emergency care as required.
- Documents all patient care activities accurately and timely, including teaching and discharge planning.
- Acts promptly on changes in patient conditions, utilizing appropriate communication techniques like SBAR.
- Delegates tasks to, and provides direction for, LPNs and aides, ensuring proper completion of these tasks.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives and upholds a culture of continuous learning and development.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- Minimum of two years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
- Current nursing licensure is mandatory.
Schedule
This position involves a night shift schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week.
Assignment Duration
This is a 13-week contract position.
