“When you’re a nurse, you know that every day you will touch a life or a life will touch yours.”
ARMStaffing Nurse Jennifer Love, RN will be awarded the prestigious Patient Choice Award at the Pennsylvania Nightingale Awards in October. Jen was nominated by the wife of her former patient whom she helped care for through his battle with COVID-19 during her travel assignment late last year.
Jen recalls her experience with her patient and his family was unlike any other.
“I took care of him on every shift for two months. I would set up zoom calls for him almost every morning so he could see his family. I made it a point to connect with his wife, who was also an oncology nurse, even outside of my work hours so we could keep each other updated on his condition. I was constantly rooting for him to get better. They trusted me to take care of him – I deeply cared for him and his family.”
Jen and her patient’s wife, Anne, became close throughout her husband’s care. When Anne’s husband unfortunately passed away earlier this year, Jen and her husband attended the memorial. At the memorial, Anne said she wanted to do something to bring light to Jen’s excellent care for her husband and family.
A few months later, Jen got a call on her lunch break that she would be receiving the Patient Choice Award, nominated by Anne.
“I was totally blown away. I was crying in the breakroom on my lunch and immediately text Anne to thank her.”
Anne was ecstatic to hear that Jen would be receiving the award.
“It meant so much to her and her family that her husband was receiving the best care he could. It was an honor to do that and I’m grateful to have them in my life.”
We at ARMStaffing are honored to have nurses like Jen, a part of our team.
