At this point in the new year, there are generally two people: those regretting their New Year’s resolutions and those who have already given them up.

But what if you haven’t come up with one entirely? Don’t worry, it’s not too late! In fact, we’ll even help you come up with some. You can thank us later.

Here are some New Year’s resolutions that we think are perfect for travel healthcare workers to consider.

Meal prep

We’ll start with one that we’ve already covered in the past. Meal prepping is a forward-thinking approach to your diet. You front-load all the cooking and preparation at the start of the week so that actually making the meals is a breeze.

While it seems like a tedious prospect, the benefits of meal prep outweigh any of the bothersome downsides. For one, it eases up your schedule for the rest of the week. As a travel healthcare professional, you’re likely working long shifts. Being able to free up your schedule on those busy workdays will have you thanking the meal prep gods.

Another big benefit is the helping hand it provides your diet. Meal prep forces you to be mindful and deliberate in your dietary choices, making it easier to stick to more healthy, nutritious options. Considering the stress and strain of being a healthcare professional, keeping your body in tip-top shape is of the utmost importance.

Explore outside your comfort zone

So many New Year’s Resolutions focus on getting out of bad habits or personal ruts. Nothing can aid this end goal like promising yourself to step out of your comfort zone in a while.

It’s immensely challenging to do things you’re not comfortable with but also incredibly rewarding. Whether it’s as big as traveling to a new place or as simple as trying a new food, straying from the familiar and embracing the unknown can lead to unforgettable life moments.

The life of a travel healthcare professional is certainly a career that requires many to step outside their comfort zones, but don’t be afraid to push the envelope even further!

Practice self-care

Mental health is just as important as physical health. A New Year’s resolution that implores you to focus on the former is important for anyone, perhaps travel healthcare professionals most of all.

This resolution simply asks you to make sure that you’re thinking of yourself this year. Whether that means allowing yourself a guilty pleasure food once in a while or taking an evening to yourself, whatever form of self-care you take should be front and center in 2024.

As rewarding as it is, healthcare is a mentally taxing field to be in. Resolving to look after your own mental well-being is the least you can do for yourself.

Pick up a new hobby

Hobbies are not only a great way to blow off steam but also to grow and better yourself as a person. Looking at the new year as an opportunity to pick up a new hobby is something we all should consider.

Whether you want to get into relaxing, artsy hobbies like painting or scrapbooking, or challenge yourself with physical activities such as running or swimming, a new hobby can add a spark of refreshment to your psyche. As previously mentioned, mental health for a travel healthcare professional should be taken very seriously and a resolution like this can be a big step in taking care of it.

Wondering what hobbies are trendy heading into 2024? Some recently hot hobbies include board gaming, gardening and cooking.
