After months of waiting, a Pennsylvania compact update has arrived!
Starting Sept. 5, 2023, registered nurses and licensed practical nurses from other states who hold multistate licenses through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) will be able to provide in-person and telehealth services to PA patients.

On September 5th, the Keystone State will begin partially implementing the Compact by allowing nurses from other Compact states to work in PA (provided they have a Compact license).
Here’s what PA NLC update means for you…
If you’re a nurse in a Compact state with a Compact license:
- You will be able to work in Pennsylvania beginning September 5, 2023.
- Our recruiters can begin submitting you to assignments right now with a target start-date of 9/5 or later!

If you’re a nurse in a Compact state without a Compact license:
- You will need to apply for a Compact license before being able to take advantage of this implementation.
If you’re currently a nurse in Pennsylvania:
- This change may mean that opportunities in PA will become more competitive as out-of-state nurses come to PA for higher bill-rates.
