Respiratory Therapist - 48 Hour Contract

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. Key responsibilities include evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, explaining procedures to patients, and providing education during discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine physician-prescribed respiratory treatments using various ventilatory equipment.
• Administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation to patients.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal).
• Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Review patients' chest x-rays for further evaluation needs.
• Conduct 12-Lead EKG and assess basic arrhythmias.
• Perform pulmonary function studies, assisting with procedures according to policy.
• Manage tracheostomy care, including tube insertion and removal.
• Administer arterial puncture and monitor ventilation efficiency.
• Follow laboratory testing policies, including specimen handling and documentation.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Assist in the maintenance and operation of mechanical ventilation equipment.
• Keep accurate respiratory therapy records and communicate with medical staff regarding patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Applicants must possess a valid Respiratory Therapy license and relevant certifications aligned with their practice and the responsibilities outlined above.
