Job Description

The Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) is a 30-bed unit that delivers medical, pre-operative, and post-operative surgical care to admitted patients with generally medium to high acuity. Patients typically have the potential to become unstable and may have existing co-morbidities, necessitating a higher level of nursing care compared to general patient care units. This patient population spans from young adults to geriatric patients, with conditions including:

• Cardiac diagnoses
• Pre/Post cardiac artery bypass surgery
• Carotid endarterectomy
• Acute Myocardial Infarction (MI)
• Post pacemaker insertion
• Arrhythmia detection
• CHF, pneumonia, and similar disease processes

Responsibilities

Registered Nurses in the Cardiovascular Unit are responsible for providing high-level nursing care to patients in both pre-operative and post-operative settings.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current CA RN license
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• EPIC charting experience
• Minimum of 2 years of Critical Care experience
• Successful completion of prior traveler assignments
