Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) - Full-Time Contract

Assignment Duration

This is a 22 to 26-week contract position, with flexibility for the end date, but must extend into January.

Schedule

This position includes full-time hours consisting of 3 shifts of 12 hours each week, along with 2 on-call shifts every 4 weeks. The shifts will vary between day and night.

Job Description

The Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients across adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations. The RN assesses patient needs, develops individualized care plans in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, and evaluates patient progress throughout their hospital stay.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of patient/family needs using active listening and analysis of data.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to create and adjust care plans based on patient responses.
• Provide education to patients and families about self-care and lifestyle adjustments post-discharge.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of care and engage in quality improvement activities.
• Foster a healing environment by building trusting relationships with patients and families.
• Administer medications and perform interventions in accordance with safety protocols.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active New York State RN Licensure
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only)
• NIHSS certification
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a Med/Surg environment.
