Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, offering intensive respiratory care and patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed, within the scope of their professional license and with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, explaining treatment purposes and procedures, and providing necessary education to patients upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning of patients by various methods.
• Conduct monitoring procedures such as oximetry and capnography.
• Review patients' chest x-rays and perform pulmonary function studies as per policy.
• Assist with respiratory care procedures including bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care.
• Perform arterial punctures and monitor ventilation efficiency.
• Administer basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) as needed.
• Maintain and document all respiratory therapy records accurately.
• Collaborate with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficiency.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Must possess the necessary professional license and certifications to practice as a Respiratory Therapist.
