Job Description

The CT Technologist is responsible for preparing patients for diagnostic procedures, explaining scans, positioning patients for optimal imaging, and operating equipment to produce cross-sectional images of bones, organs, and tissues. On-call duty is required.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Understand and complete necessary requisitions for ordered exams promptly.
  • Schedule all exams in a timely manner.
  • Perform diagnostic Radiographic/Fluoroscopic C-arm exams on patients in the department and with portable equipment.
  • Inject IV contrast media as needed.
  • Perform various examinations, reconstructions, and printing protocols as instructed by the Radiologist.
  • Identify various types of mechanical and electronic equipment failures to diagnose problems accurately.
  • Explain procedures to patients and address any questions or concerns.
  • Properly move and transport patients to and from the department as required.
  • Order necessary supplies and maintain par levels.
  • Treat all patients, guests, coworkers, and physicians with courtesy and friendliness, regardless of cultural/ethnic background, gender, orientation, or age.
  • Attend required in-services and orientations.
  • Collaborate closely with floor staff to facilitate excellent patient care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • CT Certification.
  • BLS Certification required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the Medical Imaging field (not including school).
  • Experience operating facility-specific equipment (Philips).
  • On-call availability is required.
