Phlebotomist - Night Shift

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

7 shifts on, 8 shifts off. Shifts scheduled between 7 PM - 7 AM.

Job Description

The Phlebotomist position draws blood from both inpatient and outpatient settings to facilitate testing and assist doctors in making diagnoses.

Responsibilities

• Send out all pathology and cytology, bone marrow biopsies, and fine needle aspirates.
• Review and input patient demographics for pathology.
• Review and print pathology reports; input histology charges as they arrive.
• Order tests and prepare them to standards.
• Check lab orders for accuracy; confirm with physicians and make necessary changes.
• Perform venipuncture blood draws, heel sticks, and finger pokes; verify patient information.
• Conduct drug screens and breathalyzers.
• Stay updated with changes and new protocols.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ years of related work experience preferred.
• BLS certification required or must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
• Valid and current driver’s license preferred.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail are required.
• Intermediate proficiency with computers is required.
• Comprehensive phlebotomy skills and knowledge of lab protocols.
• Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
