Registered Nurse - Palliative Care (Telemetry Experience Not Required)

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

36 or 48 hours per week, rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed by the unit.

Job Description

This role is situated in a dedicated unit for patients aged 18 and up requiring intensive symptom management at the end of life. The RN will utilize strong IV and wound care skills with compassion, effectively managing complex patient needs and supporting families in crisis. Astute assessment skills are required for advocating for patients who may be unable to voice their needs. The unit also provides care for general medicine overflow. Experience with patient-controlled analgesia pumps or CHPN certification is highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with palliative and acute medical needs.
• Perform comprehensive assessments and advocate for patients’ needs.
• Administer medications and manage pain effectively using patient-controlled analgesia pumps.
• Provide support to families, offering compassion and understanding during difficult times.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient-centered care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• NYS RN License (only New York licensed nurses will be accepted).
• Two years of recent palliative care or acute medical-surgical experience.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Experience with patient-controlled analgesia pumps or CHPN certification is highly desired.
