Registered Nurse - ED Holding Support Position

Job Description

The ED Holding Support Position is located within the Float Pool and entails managing patients situated in the Emergency Department who are awaiting inpatient beds. The candidates may encounter patients with any medical/surgical adult diagnosis and may be responsible for PCU level patients as well. Travelers in this role are expected to handle MS/Tele cases and float to ED and MedSurg areas as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients in the ED Holding unit, including patients awaiting an inpatient bed.
• Provide care for patients with varying medical/surgical adult diagnoses.
• Conduct telemetry monitoring and manage cases of dysrhythmias.
• Administer blood products and conduct peripheral line care/management.
• Implement isolation precautions and non-invasive airway management as needed.
• Coordinate with Rapid Response Teams for critical patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Experience in MS/Tele and PCU level care.
• Strong skills in the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy and PICC line management.
• Willingness to float to ED and MedSurg areas as needed.
