Part Time Med/Surg RN - Day/Night Variable Shift

Job Description

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The RN assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode. The Med/Surg RN develops specialized skills in cardiac care, including telemetry monitoring. The RN is accountable for patient and family education to help them understand self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient/family needs through active listening and social perceptiveness.
• Create individualized plans of care in collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust plans based on patient response or change in condition.
• Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and initiate changes for improvement.
• Educate patients/families on care and healing at home and document responses to education provided.
• Foster teamwork and cooperation among team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Comply with infection prevention strategies and maintain competencies for the specific patient population.
• Create a healing environment by building meaningful connections with patients and families.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• NYS RN Licensure
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS
• One (1) year of experience in a Med/Surg environment as a Registered Nurse

Schedule

Part Time (2x12s) - Day/Night variable shift, scheduled as needed by the client, including weekends and holidays.
