Registered Nurse - Med Surg/Telemetry

This position offers a 12-hour night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, guaranteeing 36 hours per week.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care while functioning within the health system’s mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using age-specific criteria and clinical judgment. This role also includes mentoring non-RN staff, including LPNs, PCTs, and Unit Secretaries.

Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate patient needs, initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses, particularly regarding cardiac medications.
• Perform telemetry monitoring and respond to changes in heart rhythms.
• Recognize signs and symptoms of stroke and other medical emergencies and intervene appropriately.
• Educate and direct non-RN staff to ensure quality patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in Med Surg/Telemetry.
• Active Ohio RN License or Compact RN License.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Current American Heart Association ACLS certification.
• NIHSS certification.
• Competency with cardiac medications and telemetry monitoring.
• Critical thinking skills to assess and intervene in patient care.
