Job Description

The Echocardiogram Sonographer is responsible for performing diagnostic echocardiograms on both adult and pediatric patients. This role requires technical proficiency in 2D, M-mode, and Doppler cardiac exams while collaborating with various hospital departments to facilitate patient care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct echocardiograms and related cardiac exams.
• Coordinate with hospital departments for scheduling, patient transport, and billing.
• Assist cardiologists in dictating exams and ensuring accurate data entry.
• Respond to patient needs during examinations and report patient condition changes.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and keep supplies stocked.
• Participate in Performance Improvement activities and maintain quality control of equipment.
• Stay updated on advancements in echocardiography and perform other cardiac procedures as needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent, with a two-year allied health education program preferred.
• Certification/Licenses: A.R.D.M.S./CCI registered or registry eligible; State of New Mexico Echo Sonographer License; BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Experience: At least two years of actively performing echocardiograms preferred.
