Registered Nurse - Acute Inpatient Psychiatry Unit

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Shifts are scheduled for 5-8 hour periods from 03:00 PM to 11:30 PM, including holidays and every other weekend. Block scheduling must be mutually agreed upon.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will work in a 25-bed acute inpatient psychiatry unit, providing care to patients with acute psychosis presentations such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and suicidal or homicidal tendencies. Responsibilities include administering medications, conducting patient rounds, vital sign assessments, and facilitating group activities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as charge nurse, overseeing nursing operations during shifts.
• Work as an admission nurse, managing patient admissions and assessments.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
• Conduct patient rounds and take vital signs.
• Facilitate therapy groups and provide patient care interventions.
• Collaborate with other healthcare staff to ensure comprehensive care.
• Handle restraints and de-escalation techniques when necessary, ensuring safety.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active RN license required.
• BLS certification.
• Experience working in a psychiatric or mental health setting preferred.
