Night shift, 3x12.0 hours per week with every other weekend commitment.

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed and within the scope of their professional license. Responsibilities include the evaluation of patients and the formulation of treatment plans, as well as educating patients on treatment purposes, procedures, and equipment usage, particularly during discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods including oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal techniques.
• Monitor patient oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Review patient's chest x-rays for evaluation needs.
• Assist with pulmonary function studies and various respiratory care procedures such as bronchoscopy and tracheostomy care.
• Perform arterial punctures and monitor ventilation efficiency while recording and reporting test results.
• Conduct cardiopulmonary resuscitation as per BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Maintain records of treatments and patient responses in the respiratory care records and patient chart.
• Communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficiency.
• Ensure accurate respiratory therapy charging, including data entry and corrections.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Must possess a valid Respiratory Therapist license and relevant certifications. Experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
