X-Ray Technologist

Schedule

Weekends: Friday 10:30 AM - Midnight, Saturday 8:00 AM - Midnight, Sunday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (36 hours preferred; would consider up to 40 hours). On-call shifts 2-3 times per month with the requirement to report within 30 minutes for on-call shifts.

Job Description

The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures by utilizing x-ray equipment, adhering to safety protocols, and ensuring high-quality imaging for interpretation by the Radiologist.

Responsibilities

• Verify patients' identity and review physician's orders prior to x-ray procedures.
• Operate x-ray equipment safely and effectively to capture images of bones, tissues, and organs.
• Explain x-ray procedures to patients and address any questions or concerns.
• Position patients correctly, which may involve lifting and moving patients with limited mobility.
• Maintain a low radiation dose to patients while producing high-quality images.
• Notify management of any damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment promptly.
• Utilize electronic patient information systems for verification of patient details and imaging protocols.
• Practice dual patient identifier procedures and ensure accurate patient record keeping.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of formal training in an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
• Current certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• New York State (NYS) license or ability to obtain prior to starting.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an X-Ray Technologist.
• Experience at a Level 1 trauma center.
• Ability to lift or move patients as necessary.
• Recent OR experience, with use of c-arm/o-arm within the last 8 months.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
