MRI Technologist

Job Description

The essential functions of the MRI Technologist position include performing magnetic resonance imaging on patients utilizing advanced technical equipment and administering contrast materials as required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare scan room and patient for examination.
• Draw up IV contrast if needed; administer oral contrast if indicated; perform warm-up procedure on equipment; enter patient data and appropriate scan parameters; review patient data to assure proper exam; review previous exams.
• Interview and screen patients for contraindications prior to undergoing an MRI study; explain the procedure and answer patient questions.
• Transport patients into exam room, assist in appropriately positioning them for the exam; determine allergy status; inject appropriate IV contrast; perform scans with attention to appropriate positioning.
• Utilize correct protocols, coils, restraints, and other materials when scanning, ensuring quality images are produced.
• Assure proper marking regarding patient orientation; enter images with correct order using keypad.
• Prepare records for the radiologist, ensuring all clinical information is complete; assure the exam images are in correct order and provide additional information as needed.

Schedule

This position requires varied 8-hour afternoon/day shifts with a 40-hour guarantee.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2+ years of MRI experience.
• Siemens experience is required.
• Associate Degree in a related field.
• Active MRI certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (AMRIT).
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
