ECMO Specialist Registered Nurse

Schedule

This is a 13-week contract position with night shifts from 19:00 - 07:30, requiring weekend coverage every other week with potential changes based on need.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced ECMO Specialist Registered Nurse to provide critical care for pediatric and adult patients in the CVICU and PICU. The nurse will float between units, managing patients requiring ECMO support due to post-cardiac surgery, cardiogenic shock, traumatic injuries, and other critical illnesses.

Responsibilities

• Manage ECMO devices during bedside ECMO cannulation and cannula repositioning procedures.
• Provide care for patients on ECMO, including those who are ventilated or in ARDS/respiratory failure.
• Collaborate with ICU RNs and RTs in accordance with ECMO order sets and provider team directions.
• Monitor and assess patient vitals and respond to changes in patient status effectively.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 3 years of ICU experience, with both pediatric and adult experience required.
• Previous charge experience is preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of EPIC experience.
• Current SC RN license, ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications are mandatory.
• ECMO specialty device course and required CMEs to maintain proficiency are necessary.
