Surgical Technologist - CVOR

Days 10 hours Variable Day Shifts with a 40-hour guarantee. This position may require floating to General OR as needed.

Job Description

The Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room plays an essential role in supporting surgical procedures. This individual must demonstrate knowledge of various surgical procedures and be able to problem-solve related to the procedure being performed. Responsibilities include ensuring all supplies and equipment are prepared and functional, confirming and assembling sterile instruments, anticipating the surgeon's needs, and maintaining the sterile field throughout the procedure.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures and problem-solving capabilities related to ongoing operations.
• Verifies items on the physician preference card and maintains supply accountability for accurate billing.
• Utilizes equipment properly, ensuring that all equipment, disposables, cleaning, and sterilizing protocols are adhered to.
• Maintains a sterile environment and monitors the sterile field, recognizing any breaks in technique.
• Sets up the sterile field with instruments promptly and keeps accurate accounts of medications, sponges, instruments, and sharps.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 5+ years of experience in CVOR - Required
• Open heart experience - Required
• Comfortable floating to General OR if needed - Required
• Experience in a tertiary care center or designated level I or II trauma center - Required
• Current Skills Checklist specific to CVOR - Required
• 2 completed Supervisory Reference Forms within the last two years - Required
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification - Required
• Active NBSTSA certification - Required
