Certified Respiratory Therapist - Nights
Job Description
The Certified Respiratory Therapist is responsible for administering safe and competent respiratory care as ordered by physicians, with an emphasis on specialty areas including Emergency, Neonatal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Critical Care. The role involves monitoring mechanical ventilation, administering medications, conducting patient assessments, and understanding the implications of hemodynamic monitoring and blood work results.
Responsibilities
- Competent delivery of all Respiratory Care procedures as specified in the department's policy and procedure manual.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all Respiratory Care procedures.
- Verify Respiratory Care physician orders and provide accurate reports on patient status.
- Participate in departmental meetings, in-services, and patient care rounds.
- Perform effective airway management, oral suctioning, and assist in intubation.
- Conduct arterial blood gas draws and monitor ventilated patients.
- Educate and train new employees and students in the field of respiratory therapy.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and workplace safety protocols.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives within the department.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Graduate of a COARC approved Respiratory Care Program.
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential according to guidelines set forth by the NBRC.
- BLS certification to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
- NRP certification to be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Minimum of one year of respiratory experience in a hospital setting is preferred.

This position requires night shifts.
Assignment Duration
This is a 13-week contract position.
