Registered Nurse - Birthing Center

Job Description

Provides professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients using critical thinking and independent judgment. Utilizes all phases of the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Responsible for the direction and supervision of the nursing patient care team typically made up of CNAs, LPNs, and other techs. Collaborates with own team and other disciplines in the provision of care. Documents patient care, patient condition, reactions, and response to treatment in a timely manner and tracks patient progress.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients.
• Administer medications and monitor patient reactions.
• Prepare laboring patients for delivery and provide postpartum care for mothers and newborns.
• Supervise and support nursing staff and patient care team members.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for improved patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and thorough patient documentation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2 years of current experience in a Birthing Center - REQUIRED
• Experience with laboring patients, delivery, and postpartum care for mothers and babies - REQUIRED
• Prior travel experience - PREFERRED
• NRP certification - PREFERRED (willing to obtain if not active)
• BLS (AHA) certification - REQUIRED
• Valid Michigan RN license

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
