Job Description

We are seeking a Registered Nurse for a medical surgical telemetry overflow unit. The unit accommodates a varying number of patients based on demand and is integrated within the GI Endoscopy space. RNs are required to have competency in phlebotomy and IV placement, essential for this position.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in a medical-surgical telemetry unit, managing patients with varying needs.
• Demonstrate competency in phlebotomy and IV placement.
• Monitor vital signs and patient status, effectively communicating changes as needed.
• Assist with patient admissions, ensuring accurate record-keeping and care documentation.
• Adhere to isolation precautions and hospital policies regarding patient safety and care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Float to care for medical-surgical patients based on unit needs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a medical-surgical or telemetry environment.
• Active New York State RN license is required.
• Mandatory competency in phlebotomy and IV placement.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record (EHR) system is required.
• Charge nurse experience is preferred but not required.
