Registered Nurse - Chemotherapy and Infusion Specialist

Job Description

The Registered Nurse is responsible for independently administering various chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy treatments in accordance with the provider's orders. This position includes accessing port-a-caths, PICC lines, and Hickman catheters, performing venipuncture, and managing necessary dressings and laboratory work.

Responsibilities

• Administer a variety of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy injections as prescribed.
• Access and manage port-a-caths, PICC lines, and Hickman catheters.
• Perform venipuncture and manage lab work via ports and catheters.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of patient conditions, treatments, and responses to therapy.
• Monitor and document all intravenous therapies and patient responses.
• Alert the Medical Oncologist or Nurse Practitioner of unusual occurrences and initiate emergency actions when necessary.
• Provide patient and caregiver education regarding medications, expected responses, disease process, and lifestyle adjustments.
• Verify informed consent prior to administering chemotherapy.
• Demonstrate knowledge of hazardous drug handling and proper PPE usage.
• Ensure a safe environment while complying with all relevant policies and procedures.
• Utilize Epic EMR proficiently for documentation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Current RN license and experience in oncology nursing preferred. Must demonstrate understanding of the administration of chemotherapy and handling hazardous materials.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
