Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Job Description

The Registered Nurse holds shift accountability for providing care to Emergency Room patients by utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and Hospital policy and procedures. The registered nurse demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgement, and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the safe delivery of care to patients in the Emergency Department. This position requires maintaining clinical competencies through continuing education, delegating patient care priorities commensurate with the education and experience of the staff available, and providing direction and supervision of assigned personnel delivering patient care.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the Nursing Process to provide high-quality care to patients in the Emergency Room.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and scientific judgement in providing patient care.
• Plan and anticipate safe delivery of care for diverse patient populations.
• Maintain clinical competencies through ongoing education and training.
• Delegate patient care priorities based on staff education and experience.
• Provide direction and supervision to personnel delivering patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years of ER nursing experience required.
• Experience with Cerner EMR is required.
• Charge Nurse experience preferred (additional compensation available).

Schedule

This is a night shift position from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, requiring the flexibility to float to other units as needed.
